Complete Eccles and First Security Heritage Mural composition, combining archival portraits, Utah landmarks, and banking history.
Installed in the lobby of the 26-story Wells Fargo Center in downtown Salt Lake City, the Eccles and First Security Heritage Mural commemorates the Eccles family’s historical legacy and contributions to Utah.
The project was developed with The George S. and Dolores Doré Eccles Foundation, which supplied photographs and directed the selection of images. I used scale, cropping, and layering to bring the selected photographs together in the composition.
Composition and production
I designed the mural and its companion key, handled color proofing and correction, prepared production and installation documents, and oversaw the final installation.
The mural measures approximately eight feet wide by ten feet tall and was printed on 3M adhesive vinyl. I specified the placement of the overlapping panels so that faces and other important details stayed clear of the seams.
Mural key and unveiling
The mural key presents the original archival photographs alongside explanatory captions written by the researcher. The Foundation approved the content. The unveiling photographs show the finished mural and key in the lobby.
